A tummy tuck is also known as abdominoplasty. A tummy tuck removes excessive fat and skin and tighten weakened muscles to create a smoother abdomen.

A tummy tuck may be done under sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on what your doctor recommends. One or two incisions may be made and the excess fat and excess skin may be removed. Then sutures or skin adhesives may be used to close the incisions.
