Topical anesthetic is used for this procedure, and most patients state the procedure feels like a series of brief pinches. The average number of treatments is 1-2, with 4 weeks in between procedures. Following the procedure, no sunexposure for at least the next 48 hours, and the treated area needs to remain moist with an occlusive ointment. After about 3-4 days, the outer layer of skin starts to peel off exposing the healthy new skin below.The total amount of “social” downtime is usually 4 days.
