Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia affects approximately 40 to 60 percent of men. There is often no known cause for gynecomastia, although there has been some correlation with various drugs or medical conditions. For men who are self-conscious about their appearance, Dr. Pope can create a flatter, firmer chest contour through liposuction of breast tissue, direct excision of breast tissue or a combination of the two techniques. Dr. Pope is recognized nationally for his expertise in gynecomastia surgery and patients frequently travel from throughout the United States to have the operation performed by him. It is performed in OASIS for maximum safety, comfort and privacy. Estimated recovery time is two weeks.

Liposuction

One of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in America, liposuction sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms that have not responded to diet and exercise. Local anesthesia or general anesthesia may be used and the procedure can last anywhere from one to five hours depending on the amount of fat being removed. Estimated recovery time is seven to 10 days.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure to correct a protruding or loose, sagging abdomen. The procedure removes unwanted fat, tissues, and skin by excision. Abdominal muscles that have weakened or separated can also be corrected with a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia and typically last from two to four hours. Estimated recovery time is two weeks, with six weeks needed for a return to full activity.

Facial Procedures for Men

As time passes, areas of the body and face may begin to show signs of aging, such as wrinkling, sagging, and excess skin. To correct these problems, and to help his patients appear more youthful, Dr. Pope specializes in an array of techniques designed to offer his patients an improved appearance.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Commonly performed on patients hoping to attain a more youthful, refreshed look, and/or better vision, eyelid lift is usually most beneficial to patients who are experiencing problems with their upper and lower eyelids, such as:

• Drooping eyelids
• Excess fatty deposits
• Bags underneath the eyes

By creating small incisions within the upper eyelid creases and just below the lower eyelid lashes, Dr. Pope can tighten the skin, providing patients with a less tired appearance. Blepharoplasty is performed under general anesthesia.

Brow Lift

Brow lifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. The muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face. Estimated recovery time is one week. Brow lift is performed under general anesthesia.

Face Lift

A procedure which provides a more youthful facial and neck appearance, facelift surgery can effectively counteract the visible consequences of time, gravity, sun exposure and stress. By removing excess skin and fat, redraping the skin, and tightening muscles, Dr. Pope can help create a natural-looking, invigorated, more refreshed facial appearance. This procedure can greatly reduce deep creases near the mouth, a slackened jawline and folds and fat deposits on the neck. Estimated recovery time is two weeks. Facelifts are also performed under general anesthesia.

Very often, facelift and blepharoplasty are combined for maximum improvement.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, reduce or augment a person's nose, remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, or to correct injury, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and lasts one to two hours. With board certifications in Ear, Nose, and Throat and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Pope is recognized as one of the premier rhinoplasty surgeons in Florida. Other physicians often turn to him to perform rhinoplasty on themselves and their family members. Estimated recovery time is one to two weeks.
